Meet the Artist
About Me
Vanessa is an emerging South Australian Artist, currently completing her diploma in visual arts at the Adelaide College of the Arts.
Born in the sea side country town of Port Lincoln, Vanessa now calls Adelaide home. It is evident in her works that she connects deeply with marine environments and nature. Recently Vanessa has showcased her art with the Duck and Weave artist collective group through multiple exhibitions for the Adelaide Fringe and SALA festival.
Vanessa has exhibited Installation works, paintings along with drawings. Vanessa is expanding her use of materials and techniques as she progresses with her studies and artistic journey.
Artist Statement
I find beauty and solace in nature, spending as much of my free time as possible in awe of the natural world and the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
The ocean is a constant source of inspiration for me. I approach my art practice with curiosity and exploration. Intuitively, I am guided by my works and what direction they take as the story of my works unfold.
My compositions emphasize an up-close perspective to draw attention to the details found in natural forms. My colour pallets are varied and more often I am drawn to the use of bright vivid hues that highlight the subject to create a dynamic and engaging visual experience.
I am looking forward to using a more limited pallet in my future works to create deeper contrasts and to see how far I can stretch individual hues.
